The Concord Grape Margarita is a ideal for drinking right now, as these sweet and plump fruits are perfectly ripe. This cocktail courtesy of David Kravitz of the The Smith, uses fresh fruit sourced locally in the Hudson Valley, then condensed into a syrup. The sweetness of the Concord Grapes is mirrored by the agave spirit, and balanced by the acidity of the lime juice and triple sec. This easily sippable cocktail is perfect for those who wish to embrace all fall has to offer, while still dreaming of warm summer days.
Concord Grape Margarita
1.5 oz silver tequila
.75 oz Concord Grape syrup*
.75 oz lime juice
.5 oz Combier Orange
Pour all ingredients into a shaker, shake, then strain into a coupe glass over ice. Garnish with lime.
*Concord Grape Syrup:
3 cups Concord Grapes, stems removed
1/2 cup sugar
1 cup water
Add the grapes to a blender and pulse on low 4 or 5 times to break up the skins and seeds a bit. Pour into a sauce pan and add the water and sugar.??Cook over medium-low heat, stirring frequently, for 15 minutes. After 15 minutes, turn heat a little higher and stir as mixture bubbles up for about three minutes. Remove from heat.
Pour mixture through a mesh sieve to strain out skins and seeds. Press firmly with a spoon to get all the liquid.
Set aside to cool, then pour into a clean bottle or jar. Chill before using. Syrup will keep in the fridge for about a month
