Let’s face it, food is fantastic. Is there anything better than sitting around the table with friends and family enjoying a feast of delicious grub, or sharing an indulgent dessert with your other half? As well as being necessary for survival, food tastes great, makes us happy, brings back feelings of nostalgia from our childhood and is a great way to socialise with others. And there’s nothing wrong with that at all, we’re so lucky to live during a time where incredible foods from all over the globe are accessible to us.
But of course, there is a flip side, and eating too much or the wrong things over time can affect our health. For that reason, it’s important to find a balance between eating the things that our bodies need, and fulfilling that emotional side and enjoying what we really want too. That way, we stay happy and healthy and never have to miss out or feel any guilt or shame around food because none of us want that! Here are some great ways to find that balance.
Learn to cook
We all love being cooked for- whether it’s out at restaurants or ordering hot takeout to our door. And these things are fine in moderation, but the problem with eating out too regularly (aside from the cost) is that the foods tend to have hidden ingredients. They probably contain much more salt, fat and sugar than you realise, even if they seem to be a healthy choice on the surface. When you learn to cook, you can see exactly what goes into your food, you can make it just how you like it and can easily make healthier versions of things that taste just as good. It’s a skill that all of us should learn and makes our lives better in many ways.
Discover light yet delicious recipes
Tasty food doesnt have to equal unhealthy food. Discover light and delicious meals based around proteins like chicken and fish, chopped salads full of flavour, veggies prepared in interesting and tasty ways. If you eat these the majority of the time you’re giving your body all it needs for good health without missing out. And when you do want to indulge in something thats really calorific, high in fat and high in sugar you totally can becasue it’s all about balance.

Finding a type of exercise that you absolutely love will always be good for your body. It helps you to burn off extra calories, strengthens bones, improves hormone levels and so much more.
