Dental care has always been an important part of of our family even though holidays seem to ruin that goal.?This time of year means lots of sweets! Whether its leftover Halloween candy or holiday pies and cakes – eating sweets may seem like harmless fun but pediatric oral disease is in fact the #1 chronic childhood illness.
Letting your child take that bottle of juice to bed may mean?temporary?happiness; however, there are still a ton of little teeth at risk. It’s important to establish a healthy dental routine so you can prevent all of those unwanted teeth and gum issues.?This treat filled season presents a great moment in time to teach our children the importance of taking care of our teeth and how sweets can affect them. We all hear about the importance of regular brushing and flossing for your oral care routine, but brushing alone misses the germs in 75% of your mouth! Adding a therapeutic mouthwash to your daily routine of brushing and flossing is an essential step in keeping your mouth healthy and protected.
I am always looking for ways to involve my children in a healthy routine. Whether that is eating right, exercising or even creating a healthy dental routine. My boys and I are?ecstatic?to participate in this challenge because it means 3 things:
1. A little bit of friendly competition between each other to see who follows through.
2. To see who?has the least few?cavities?at the dentist this year.
3. Mom might throw a special prize in at the end.
I’ll go to great lengths to make sure my children establish an excellent dental routine.
To help moms like you encourage good dental hygiene with their little ones, the makers of LISTERINE? and REACH? have created an “Oral Care Challenge” for parents and kids?to take on this year.
My sons and I are partipating in the “Oral Care Challenge” and that means that we will be taking part in a oral care challenge where we have to (and want to) adopt a complete regimen of brushing, flossing and rinsing every day, twice a day for two weeks. Of course, we want to continue this routine even after the two weeks. But…this helps keep ME accountable too. I live a busy life and I can honestly say I don’t always take the time to do this “healthy dental?routine.” However, times are changing and I’m in this to show my kids that a HEALTHY MOUTH is so important.

Great post! I come from a family of dentists so tooth care was emphasized to the extreme during my childhood – LOL!
