Teach your child to count by counting the amount of cars you pass on your way to the supermarket. Teach them the meaning of the stoplights and point out the words of any building of interest while you pass it.
By taking the time to point out the words that occur on street signs and even buildings you are helping your child to continue learning even while they are not sitting directly in front of a whiteboard or a teacher.
This type of independent learning will allow your child to start seeing that knowledge is something that is not just found in a classroom. It will hopefully make them adventurous so that they start searching for that treasure of knowledge wherever they go.
Make It Fun
Another important thing you need to remember is that you must try to make learning as much fun as you possibly can. Wherever there is an opportunity to play a game to learn a concept or a skill do not hesitate to take it.
This is a well-trodden road that many educators have used and it is one that is filled with success. Think of games as the pot of gold at the end of the learning rainbow.
Once children find it it will be harder to stop them from learning as much as possible. They will take off all on their own and there’s no need for you to teach them how to fly. They will automatically be in learning mode.
Children by nature love games and when you pair that with learning it’s a win-win situation.
Zone In On Your Child’s Interest
An easy way to make learning fun is the zone in on your child’s interest. As a parent, it’s not hard for you to know exactly what your child likes. Their interests are your clues as these will help you find activities that you can use to lure them into learning without them realizing what is happening.
For example, if your child loves pirates, then it’s a good idea to buy books about these characters. You can also find educational games with these as main characters. You can even use a preschool coloring pages pdf, if your child is younger.
You will be surprised at how invested your children become. You might have to drag them away kicking and screaming from these educational activities to get them into bed. This is the power of interest!

The path to learning can be filled with many bumps along the way.
