In the twenty-first century, all of us are so consumed with our own worlds: jobs, work, education that we don?t really have a lot of time to really pay a tribute to the people around us that we love and cherish. Taking out this time is actually very important because although we may spend a lot of time with the people we love but we hardly have the time to actually express our love for them. Fortunately, as much as people may criticize modernization and the impact of media on our lives, days such as father?s day and mother?s day truly add to brighten our lives and those of our parents.
Celebrated each year on the third Sunday of June, Father?s day is one holiday where one actually has the incentive to express our gratitude for our fathers, the presence of whom is important for nurturing and bringing fulfillment to the lives of kids. Whether we express our gratitude with a simple word, a hug or we go out our way to cook food for our fathers or plan something special for them; the men in our lives such as our dads need to be appreciated. Father?s day comes especially after Mother?s day because people all over the world realize how truly important both of our parents are for us and that we need to recognize and appreciate our fathers as much as our mothers.
Being a father is not an easy job; children especially look up to their fathers as being role models and heroes and as they grow up, they always look to their fathers for mental support, advice and encouragement. Fathers, whether they are young men or fathers as well as grandfathers, actually have a great responsibility on their shoulders; to bond with their kids, to be a friend to their children but at the same time to be a gentle authority, to teach them the difference between right and wrong and to teach them about the things that matter in life.
For fathers, it is truly a great thing when they take time to be with their family and when they take time to spend exclusively with their children, to get to know them and to make sure they know more about their father. So such great men who do this difficult job each day of their lives with diligence and affection need to be shown gratitude by their children, no matter what their age. It doesn?t matter where you live or what you do or if you think you are too old to celebrate Father?s day, you could still brighten your dad?s day by a simple gesture to let them know that you love them and admire them for all their strengths.
Parents are truly a blessing in our lives and they remain a blessing for us from the time they start taking care of us and bring us up to the time they watch us move away and become entangled in our own lives. They are always there for us when we need guidance, support and advice and they will be the last people to abandon you when you are in need. So take out your time this year for your dad to let him know how much he means to you.
