Get Spring’s Trends on a Budget!

?Spring is a wonderful time of year. As the weather warms, we have so many things to look forward to: the Easter bunny, sports starting up again, and the end of school is in sight. So much excitement for the kiddos!

But, as a mom, are you taking a second for yourself this spring? Make sure you treat yourself at least once this season — get yourself a mani/pedi before sandal season hits, and set aside some money in the budget to get yourself a new outfit that hits on one of this spring’s styles. I’m going to share three of spring’s hottest trends and show you how to get the looks for less!

colorblock spring 2012

scarf // sandals // top // shorts // bracelet // handbag

This season, bright is right! Bold-to-neon hues are hot, and a popular way to wear them is to colorblock. To do this, simply wear two or more solid blocks of color together in one outfit. If the look above is too bold for you, choose either the bright shirt or shorts and pair them with a muted color like white, khaki, or denim. This look is perfect for a summer cookout, baseball game, or an afternoon of errands.

safari trend 2012

jacket // wedges // shirtdress // aviators // necklace // leopard scarf

One of my favorite trends for spring is safari! To me, a safari outfit looks so cool and casual, like you just returned from a fabulous tropical vacation. To get the look, try out a shirtdress. This is a classic, comfortable, and practical dress for any mom. Wear some cork-heeled wedge sandals. Or, if you prefer practical flats, wear some strappy boho flat sandals. When it comes to accessories, think of your favorite African animals at the zoo! Wear a cute little elephant pendant or a sassy leopard scarf .

spring 2012 patel

polka dot scarf // sandals // top // maxi skirt // watch // tote

Is your style a little more understated than neon hues and bold safari? Pastels are also trendy this spring for a soft and feminine look. In the outfit above, I paired a soft mint tee with a flowy maxi skirt. Mint is the color of spring, so be sure to incorporate it somehow! And if you haven’t tried a maxi skirt yet, I strongly encourage it! Not only are they flattering, but they’re so comfortable — on the outside you’ll look simply fab, but secretly, you’ll be comfy enough for a nap!
