Are you ready for a deep spring clean to freshen up your home and get rid of clutter? No?
Don’t worry, most people aren’t!
Thankfully, there are a bunch of ways in which you can plan ahead of time so that your spring clean takes less time and achieves more! So read on to learn more about how to create a detailed and effective spring cleaning plan.
Make time for your spring clean
A lot of people try to fit in their spring clean between their existing chores and responsibilities. Sadly, this almost never works out. Trying to clean your entire house without a proper plan is not a good idea. You’ll be unprepared, you’ll rush things, and you’ll end up with a home that hasn’t been thoroughly cleaned out.
So the solution is to make a weekend of it–or at least dedicate an entire day. You’ll feel less rushed to finish things up, and you can spend a part of the day picking up and gathering supplies for the big clean as well.
Write down your plan and go through it
Having a plan of action is great, but you need to go through it and envision what you’ll be doing on the day. You might even want to plan for the days before you actually start cleaning too.
For instance, perhaps you have to spend a bit of time researching dumpster rental sizes so you know what size to hire. Or maybe you’re looking to clean a large area of the home and you need to roughly estimate how much cleaning product you need to buy.
The more detailed your plan is, the less likely you’ll run into problems during the clean. It’ll be easier to gauge how much product you need, what equipment you should have, and also how much time each phase of the clean-up should take!
Write a checklist of things you need to do
It may seem excessive at first, but a checklist can be a great way to systematically clean your rooms. If your list has all of the things you should be doing, then you can use it as a way to stay focused. You can even write a checklist of rooms to clean and in what order. It could start with the bedrooms then end with backyard maintenance so that you make your way through the house.
For each individual room, think about the areas that you need to clean and declutter. For instance, your kitchen checklist could have “clean each individual appliance” or even “empty out cabinets of old food”. Writing this stuff in the planning stage is great because you can always go back and add more things if you ever forget something.
One of the great things about having a checklist or a detailed plan is that it can be used again and again. If you need to clean your entire home in the future, just come back to this list you’re making and go through it again for a quick and thorough spring clean.
