It might still feel like the middle of winter, but spring is right around the corner. Before you know it, the sun will be shining and you?ll be setting off on your family spring break road trip. Get a jump on spring cleaning and enjoy a clean or( new car) if you’re lucky as a new season rolls in. Here are 10 tips for car cleaning:
Take out the trash. Clean out all of those crevices full of gum wrappers and trash. Put a new garage pail or bag in your car to keep the clutter under control.
Wash and wax. Give the outside of your car a deep clean, and top it off with a wax to seal the paint and add a protective barrier from dirt and water.
Clean upholstery. Vacuum the entire interior of car, including the mats. Use an upholstery or leather cleaner to clean the seats and give them a fresh new look.
Wash the underbody. Winter can be harsh on your car, especially on the undercarriage, which is exposed to ice and harsh chemicals. Upgrade your carwash to include undercarriage cleaning.
Wash windows and mirrors. Winter can lead to build up on your car?s windows and mirrors. Wash them with a glass cleaner and wipe dry to avoid streaks.
Clean out the trunk. A heavy trunk can weigh down a car and affect its gas mileage and performance. Remove unnecessary heavy items from the trunk.
Replace wiper blades. After all the work your wiper blades did in the winter snow and ice, replace them with an all-weather pair.
Check tires. Check your tire pressure, which can fluctuate in the cold winter months. Driving over pot holes and on icy roads can also move your tires out of alignment, so an alignment may be in order.
Replace fluids. A few times a year, be sure to check your car?s fluids, especially the windshield wiper fluid. If you?re running low, you can refill it yourself or take your car to any service shop for a quick top off.
Add an air freshener. Finish things off with a new scent. An air freshener is an inexpensive way to change the feel of your car and give it new life, just in time for a spring drive.
