3 Must-Wear Dresses for Spring & Summer

On a warm and sun-shiny spring or summer day, my favorite thing to wear is a flowing, loose-fitting dress. The right dress will keep you cool and comfortable all day long without the annoyance of shorts. (I seriously think shorts are one of the most uncomfortable forms of clothing.) Have you treated yourself to a new dress this spring? There’s a bevy of new trends for 2012 — check on my top three must-wear dresses for this year.

1. Target Hi-Lo Dress — Hi-low hems are huge for spring and summer 2012. With this style, look for dresses, shirts, and skirts that are higher in the front than the back. These hems run the gamut from “extreme” hi-low where there’s a significance difference between the front and back to a subtle difference in length. The hi-low dress above is only $25 at Target — you seriously can’t go wrong! I love this pretty shade of emerald green, but it’s also available in heather grey and black. I’d style this dress with a pair of strappy gold sandals, a wrist of bangles, and a pair of gold aviators.
2. Dorothy Perkins Peplum Dress — This sweet frock exhibits two big trends: mint and peplum. Mint is such a soft and pretty hue, so definitely be sure to add some of the color to your wardrobe. Peplum is a flared silhouette that is created with an extra piece of fabric near the waist/hips. This dress would be perfect for a spring or summer wedding. Pair it with some nude pumps and silver accessories.
3. Topshop Maxi Dress — Have you tried out a maxi dress yet? Maxis are the ultimate comfort dress. Plus, they’re flattering and provide a certain modesty that isn’t interpreted as frumpy. If you’re wearing a loose-fitting maxi, like the one above, I suggest belting it for a bombshell hourglass figure! A maxi can look beachy casual with a sunny floppy hat, flip flops, and loose waves.
