While the kids are away visiting grandparents, Sol and I have really been enjoying one another?s company. Last night for instance, we got the chance to enjoy a Necessary Night-In and watched the show Necessary Roughness.? Since it was just the two of us, I thought it would be fun to catch a movie and order in some take out.? I figured what better way to take advantage of a Necessary Night In than by also enjoying a Necessary Night -Out out of the kitchen!? I am always in the kitchen cooking so it was a nice to be able to enjoy a night off.
The take out was great by the way and as we tuned in, we grubbed out on snacks, soda and cuddled up on the couch.? I was excited about watching the show since I missed all of last season.? I couldn?t wait to see what I missing !
Necessary Roughness is about a Long Island therapist Dr. Dani Santino(Callie Thorne), who in order to make ends meet, gets a job as a therapist for a professional football team. Her career begins to take off when athletes, musicians, politicians and other celebrities start to request her tough love therapy.? Diving fully into her work, Dr. Dani finds herself as the most sought-after therapist for high-profile clients . She must now learn to balance her new career with being a single mother.
Now in its second season, Necessary Roughness picks up with the aftermath of football superstar TK?s (Mehcad Brooks) shooting by a crazed fan. Also tackling football during the off-season, viewers get a peek at the ?backstage? drama that comes with training camp, scouting and drafting.
HIS and HERS Review:
His:? When my wife mentioned that she wanted me to check out Necessary Roughness with her, I was a bit skeptical.? Like her, I had never tuned in to the show before, so I was not sure what to expect.? And since we don’t always have the same interest in a show, that had me a bit concerned as well.? The show however provided a perfect combination of my favorite elements. Sports, not too much drama, great lines, a good dose of wit, and a decent amount of romance that doesn?t overtake the whole show.? The writers do a? really good job with reeling you in and have you wanting more.?? I can really see myself watching future episodes and getting into the characters.
Her:? My husband is right.? We do not always have interest in the same type of shows.? This one however is different.? I can see us both enjoying this one together-on a regular basis.?? I like that the show can take a subject matter (like sports), make it appealing and have you forget you?re watching a show about football.? For me, it has just the right balance or intrigue, romance and humor.? It also has some really nice eye candy for us ladies.? T.K. (Mehcad Brooks) OMG …I’m just sayin.? We also get to see a strong, intelligent, and confident woman ( Dr. Dani) who is conflicted and torn between her professional obligations and those of her family and herself – a situation many women are faced with everyday.? After tonight’s episode, I can really see myself being hooked.? I have already started viewing past episodes I’ve missed.
I think it’s fair to say that we both enjoyed our movie night together.? I like that we were able to watch something together that we both enjoyed.? He got the elements of the show he likes and I got to see some really nice eye-candy. ? Together its a perfect combination!?? We both enjoyed Necessary Roughness and look forward to watching the rest of season 2 this summer.
Have you checked out the show yet??? When was the last time you enjoyed a Necessary Night-In?

I haven’t had an opp to check it out but the commercials and sound bites sound good. Not sure I’m okay w/ the stereotypical black athlete persona…

I’ve never seen it before – but it sounds like it’s worth checking out.
Rachel says
I haven’t seen this yet.
But we do enjoy a Necessary Night In every Saturday. The kids go to bed and we cook a meal together, enjoy a quiet dinner with just the two of us and then watch a movie together. I will have to check out Necessary Roughness.

Sounds interesting. I’m totally limiting my t.v. time as it interrupts my writing time too much!
