Traction control. Many used cars come with a system that stops wheels from slipping when you apply too much power. There are varying degrees of traction control systems, with some even applying the brakes when you hit a bad traction area. These systems are especially important in areas with wet and slippery driving conditions.
Airbags. Even old cars come with front airbags, but for extra safety, look for cars with side-curtain airbags to help reduce impact to passengers in the back seats. Cars with side airbags have different requirements for where children can sit in the car, so be aware of your car?s specifics.
