Our family has a real thing for Sweet Potatoes, so this is what I did for my four babies during the years:
Scrub about 3 or 4 sweet potatoes and bake at 450 degrees F. for 40 to 50 minutes, testing with a fork for desired softness. Allow to cool. Peel, then out in food processor, adding vegetable cooking juices, milk, or a bit of apple juice.
I also suggest you can use a potato masher to have it more textured, or a Magic Bullet! lol.

Mushy Apples (aka applesauce)
Chop about 4 apples (peeled and cored)
Boil in a saucepan with an inch of water.
Once it comes to a boil, lower the heat and simmer until the chunks are semi-soft.
Drain and toss with a tiny bit of ground cinnamon.
If you stop cooking them just before they are too soft, they can be eaten with fingers. If they are very soft, you can just mix up a little bit and eat with a spoon.

Pork Roast with All the Trimmings
This is great for when baby is ready for meat in their diet. Feeds the whole family.
Cook a Pork Roast in crock pot to the point of falling apart. I season with a dry soup mix. Before the roast is done add baby carrots and unpeeled red potatoes to crock pot. When everything is done take out some roast, carrots and potato and puree everything together with a little of the juice from the roast. One pot meal to feed the entire family. Easy to cook and clean up means more time for family at the end of the day.
Remember if you are leaving the potatoes unpeeled for the extra nutrients to use red potatoes, otherwise make sure they are peeled.

I love making my daughter’s baby food, and I would love to make it with a Magic Bullet!!! Here’s a really simple recipe that packs in the vitamins and tastes good!
Sweet Potato Pumpkin Puree
1 sweet potato (the dark orange are best, but any will do)
1 small pumpkin (pie pumpkin would be best!)
water
apple juice (if desired)
cinnamon (if desired)
1. wash and PEEL the sweet potato (extra protection from
pesticides and such!)
2. Cut into pieces
3. wash and cut the pumpkin into large chunks
4. Use a steamer or a large pan to steam the sweet potato and
pumpkin
5. Put the steamed veggies into a blender
6. Add some of the water you steamed them in so that you retain
as many vitamins as possible (can add apple juice in
addition to the water, if desired)
7. Blend until very smooth
8. Cool and serve!
You can sprinkle a bit of cinnamon in this if you want, but I prefer not to introduce that to my baby yet. My daughter loves this recipe as is!!!

Lolli says
It’s been a little while since my “babies” were eating baby food. They LOVED their pureed fruits and sweet potatoes, as well as some fruity oatmeal:
Apple oatmeal
3/4 cup water
1/4 cup apple juice
1 apple, peeled, cored and diced
1/2 cup rolled oats
a pinch of nutmeg
1/2 cup (4 fl oz) formula (or more water or milk)
Pour the water and juice into a saucepan and bring to the boil.
Add the diced apple then sprinkle in the rolled oats, stirring well.
Return the mixture to the boil, then reduce the heat to a gentle simmer.
Add the nutmeg and cook until thick (10-15 mins).
For younger babies, or if your baby likes a smoother oatmeal (versus lumpy), puree briefly in the blender. Apples can also be pureed before adding to the oatmeal.

Blend and enjoy!

Tiny Tummy Thanksgiving:
Even little ones love to celebrate thanksgiving. Unfortunately they’re often too small to dig into the food on the grown-ups table. This baby food recipe blends the flavors of Thanksgiving in an easy to swallow style.
1. Thoroughly wash a sweet potato. Puncture the potato with a fork, wrap, and microwave 5-6 minutes. Potato should be tender. The sweet potato can also be baked if you so choose.
2. Peel the potato. (The skin should pull away from the sweet potato easily.)
3. Cute the sweet potato into cubes.
4. Place diced sweet potato into Magic Bullet Express.
4. Add 2-4 ounces of apple juice (or your child’s favorite – pear also works well).
5. Puree the sweet potato in your Magic Bullet Express until it is the consistency of smooth applesauce.
6. Mix in some oatmeal cereal or pasteurized vanilla yogurt until desired consistency is reached.
Dish it out and enjoy!

My son love anything yellow or orange, so I cooked carrots, sweet potatoes and squash and pureed them.
Sometimes I even mixed several together. He loved it!

I really never used a recipe when I made baby food. Just used to mash up fruit & hide veggies in it.

Squished Squash
Ingredients: 1 meduim summer squash
Directions: Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Cut the squash in half lengthwise and scoop out the seeds. Place the squash flesh side down on a baking sheet. Bake for 45 minutes or until very tender. It will be done when skin puckers. Scoop out the flesh and puree in food processor or blender until smooth, adding water if needed.

I used to blend together cooked carrots, slightly cooked raisins, and a bit of apple sauce. She loved it.
It would be wonderful to win the Magic Bullet. I kind find so many uses for one today. Thanks for the chance.

1/2 cup mashed banana
1 cup evaporated skim milk
2 Tbs packed brown sugar
2 beaten egg yolks
1/2 tsp salt
Nonstick cooking spray, as needed
1 Tbsp sugar
1 tsp ground cinnamon
Get out a bowl and add the sweet potato and banana to it. Make sure both are well mashed. Add the milk and stir until combined. Add the brown sugar, egg yolks and the salt and mix well.
Add the mixture to a 1 quart casserole dish that has been sprayed with the cooking spray.
Combine the sugar and cinnamon in a small cup or bowl and sprinkle it over top of sweet potato mixture.
Bake at 325 for 45 minutes. Your custard is done when a knife or toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean.

My son always loved when I boiled apples until tender then added to a blender with crushed graham crackers. Blend until pureed and crackers soften within a few minutes for easy swallowing.

My baby’s favorite food at the moment is hamburger soup. Hamburger, frozen mixed veggies, diced tomatoes, cubed potatoes, low sodium beef broth, and parsley. she inhales the food (as long as it is sufficiently blended :)
