2014 is finally here. Like the rest of humanity, you?re probably shifting through your list of New Year?s resolutions. I sure am. On top of that list would be getting back into shape. That resolution has been a mainstay on my list for as many New Years as I could remember. Maybe this is the year that it will finally be materialized? Who knows.
Another one on my list would be to Stop Fat Talk. Like 93% of women, I also can?t seem to stop myself from musing out loud how fat I am.
Stuff like:
?I?m so fat!?
?I look like a cow in this dress!?
?Please delete that picture of me looking like a ginormous whale!?
?My muffin top is taking on a life of its own.?
?Look at that, flabs flabs everywhere!!?
These are things I have actually said before, either on my own or with a group of friends. When my girlfriends and I get together, the topic eventually turns to fat talk. They too bash themselves and their weight as we gulp our cups of tea or glasses of fruity cocktail.
Fortunately, I recently came across this amazing website dedicated to shutting down Fat Talk. Special K?s campaign to Shhhhut Down Fat Talk is both empowering and makes a lot of sense. This project points out to us that fat talk is actually a barrier to weight loss.
Well, how about that? Maybe this is the lacking ingredient in my several years of unsuccessful weight management. Maybe I have been looking at it the wrong way all this time, and I need to look at it from a positive perspective? It?s been proven by experts that positivity is the key to accomplishing weight loss goals. So this year, enough with the self-bashing. Enough with the unnecessary Fat Talk.
To help women take the positive route, Special K teamed up with Supermodel and Super Empowered woman Tyra Banks. Through the program, women are empowered to take a positive approach and overcome the unhealthy negativity.
?
As Tyra Banks says, ?I know firsthand how much criticizing your body negatively affects self-esteem, but as a role model, I try to maintain a positive attitude and healthy approach to managing my weight. That?s why I?m excited to partner with Special K to help empower women to not only feel confident about their bodies, but also to remove those negative thoughts and show them how to employ tips and tricks to make their least liked physical attributes look better.?
If like me, you also wish to follow Tyra?s example and start your year right with:
-
a good dose of positivity
-
a kickstarted weight loss program, and
-
better chances of finally shedding off those extra pounds
?then check out http://www.specialk.com/en_us/fightfattalk.html and join the campaign to shhhhut down fat talk.
Happy New Year!!!
