Wow, this sounds fascinating! I’ve always wondered the background of my pup.. we found him on the street as a 3 week baby and we still have no idea what type of dog he could be or any other info about him..
Interesting! I would do this for our dog. She’s a rescue, and they thought she was part King Charles Cavalier Spaniel and part Papillon…but i’d love to know for sure!
Our dog is no longer living. I had adopted our dog from another military family (who had adopted her when she was abandoned). Vets said she was a golden lab. Best dog I ever had but she had some of the same issues golden retrievers do. This would have been great to learn more about her linage.
It would have been interesting back when to know what breeds were included in my mixed breed dogs! But then they didn’t do this when I had dogs unfortunately.

We are fortunate enough with two of ours to know their history and even got to meet several of their relatives. Two though it would be interesting to know more about them.
I would have loved to do this for my dog that just passed away last year. He was wonderful, and I loved him so much. I rescued him myself on the highway when he was just about 4 months old. He had a lot of features like a blond beagle, but he was taller. I think that he was mixed with American Bloodhound, but every dog person I talked to had a different idea. LOL. It would have been fun to know the truth.
I would love to learn the linage of my dog, and find out what he is made of. He is a basset hound and such a good dog. I want to know more about him.
