Do you?love movies? We do! My hubby is a HUGE?movie fanatic and?I cannot tell you how much we used to spend on renting movies. It really was ridiculous and when our local video rental place shut down he was going nuts. We debated getting Netflix but then we would have to wait until the movie showed up then mail it off and wait for the next to show up. However when we were given the opportunity to review a Roku player we jumped! Why? Because Roku is a new affordable way for?us to?watch?streamed movies?without breaking the bank and from the comfort of our own home without waiting for the mail!

When the Roku showed up I was honestly quite shocked at how tiny it is. It’s only about 5 inches wide and maybe 1 inch tall. It was suprisingly easy to hook up to the TV, it comes with an HDMI cord that we just directly plugged in then you can choose to hook it up to the internet either wirelessly, because??the player is Wi-Fi enabled,?or with your ethernet plug. It comes complete with a remote control that allows you to browse the listings and choose your movie selections right on the TV.? It also allows you to rewind, pause,?or play your movie at anytime just like a DVD/BluRay!

I must admit that when our Roku showed up I ended up spending the entire weekend watching live streamed movies with my family and didn’t even get online to blog. I am VERY impressed and very excited about this product! I seriously want one in every room of our house!It is the number one product that should be one everyone’s holiday list!

    I learned that I can use my Netflix subscription with it, which is wonderful, because we currently try to watch the streaming videos off of our small laptop with horrid speakers. This would be so wonderful! I also learned that you can watch hulu, which I love as well, because I watch most of my tv online (saves time with commercials and I can watch them when the girls are in bed!).

    The Roku seems like the future of broadcasting media! So much is transmitted via internet these days, makes sense that there’d be something to help facilitate that. I love that it’s wireless though, unlike cable boxes that have 10,000 wires coming out and making my apartment look extra-cluttered!

    One thing I learned about the Roku is that one app that it includes is Hulu Plus, which allows you to watch your favorite shows from networks like ABC, NBC, and Fox. I didn’t realize how much more the Roku has to offer beyond Netflix (which itself is pretty awesome and the main reason I’d love to enter to win one). Thanks a lot for the giveaway!
