Working from home has its advantages but it can also come along with some disadvantages as well.? Like PAPER?, lots and lots of paper.??? Since I create and print a lot of documents, the paper just seems to accumulate overnight. ?Everything from the work related paper, personal papers and the useless junk mail I receive; you can say I generally have a lot of paper lying around.

With the holidays coming around and soon the new year, I figured I should get things a bit organized and tidy up?my office a bit, which means I would be going on a little shredding spree.?? The thought of it was refreshing but when I thought about the amount of paper I’ve saved over the?years, I knew I had a job ahead of me.

I figured I would get started early so I could take my take but at the worst possible time the unimaginable would happen, YES! My shredder broke, lol.? Are you kidding me?? Nope it actually did.

But talk about timing, I was approached by Fellowes to test out and try their new Fellowes P-12C Cross-Cut Shredder.?? Imagine my delight; I was on again with my shredding spree!

I?ll have to be honest here to say that?clearing my desk and getting my office organized was only part of the reason I wanted to get serious about Shredding .?? The other reason was?the thought of? Identity Theft which is?something we all should be concerned about.??? You here it all the time about ?how someone?s identity has been stolen and credit getting ruined by someone?getting access to personal information.?? You?d be surprised of the limits they?d go through ?even your garbage to get your info.

Identity theft is one of the fastest growing crimes in the U.S., impacting 11.1 million Americans last year alone according to Javelin Strategy and Research.

My Thoughts:

The shredder for me was just the right size.? Not too big, not too small.? It is also pretty attractive too and has its own pull out tray which is a plus to eliminate the mess.? I?particularly love the Safe Sense Technology which keeps your little ones safe should they get too close to the shredder.? The electric sensor shuts it down which I think is a great feature.?? This machine is all about safety, it also has an auto on and lock feature. ??Basically, auto on means the shredder starts when you insert paper. ???When on lock, the shredder won?t operate which I think is just an added safety feature so you don’t accidently change it to reverse.

Depending on what you?re shredding the machine can handle a single sheet of paper, or up to 12 sheets at once and you don’t have to remove staples. ???It would also take care of your old credit cards you don?t use anymore.

After giving this some thought, the PC-12 would make a great gift for anyone who has a concern about privacy and want to protect their personal information. The Fellowes Deskside Shredder would be a great gift for those hard to buy for recipients.? It is something they will undoubtedly use and most likely will help keep them safe from identity theft!

    Having a paper shredder is great because we can shred all unnecessary paper with this machine.

    Mine works really great and it can even shred credit card, unopened envelopes, DVDs, CDs, and many more.

    It is also great to keep my data secure.

    I have this never-ending pile of junk mail that I would love to shred. I especially want to shred all the useless credit card offers I get in the mail. I don’t just throw the offers away because I’ve heard of horror stories where identity thieves use people’s credit card offers they put in the trash. I would also use this shredder to shred old credit cards. My old shredder, which I got rid of, couldn’t handle shredding credit cards.

I do the data entry for a thrift shop that benefits low cost spay/neuter, and since I’m not getting paid, when I get tired of being there, I bring the work home with me. My current shredder doesn’t work well – sometimes I can see people’s entire name and/or address, which is really bad!     Having recently been a victim of credit card identity theft (caught very early – thank goodness) I would shred every piece of paper we are tossing that has even the slightest person info on it. It would sure beat our current “system” of using scissors or our hands to tear up the paper and then mixing these very large “shreds” with a mixture of wet stinky garbage and USED kitty litter.
