We recently hosted our very first sleepover since the kids were born.? Mister and Sister were so excited that my niece was coming to stay the night.? We had lots of fun stuff planned, and I knew that putting together our new eco friendly kid furniture, that we received for review from Cascades Boutique, would be a great sleepover project.
Hubs set to work, with Misters help, to put the products together.? First he un-boxed the table, which is 84% recycled cardboard and 100% recyclable.? The box that the table came in had pictorial instructions for putting the table together.? I have to confess, I would not have been able to put the table and chairs together with the pictorial instructions.? I am a step by step WORD instruction follower.? Fortunately for us, Hubs is an engineer, and can put together just about anything.
The table base had a crease in it where it shouldn?t have, but it didn?t affect the table at all.? I am sure we could have had it replaced, since Cascades Boutique accepts returns during the 5 working days following the delivery date.? But, since it didn?t affect the table, we weren?t concerned with it.
The kids were excited about the air hockey surface of the table.? The game room at church has an air hockey table, but Mister and Sister are too young to play in there.? They thought they were pretty special getting their own air hockey table.? Once they were busy playing air hockey, Hubs got busy assembling the cardboard chairs.
Again, the instructions were in pictures, but that didn?t seem to faze him.? He had them together in about fifteen minutes, and that was with helpful advice from Sister from time to time.?? I was really surprised by how sturdy the chairs are.? Of course, I knew that the website said that the chairs can easily support up to 100 pounds, but I was a little skeptical on that! I mean, really, a cardboard chair holding a hundred pounds?
Let me tell you, the chairs have withstood some serious hard knocks, as the kids have drug the chairs all over the house, from the basement to the living room upstairs, to their own bedrooms when they are playing in there.? They have sat in them, they have had time out in them, and they have piled their stuffed toys on them.? And, I know that it can support at least 72 pounds, because Sister sat on Mister?s lap in it, and it remained standing!
I don?t know that I would have thought to purchase cardboard furniture for my kids prior to this review, as I would have thought it would be a waste of money.? I can tell you that the chairs are well worth it.? The air hockey table has been disassembled, and the kids use the base as their ?play house.?? Knowing that, I think if I had the opportunity to review cardboard furniture again, I would go straight for the cardboard playhouse that Cascades Boutique offers.? They also offer a cardboard Christmas tree that looks like it would be loads of fun to do as a Christmas project with the kids.
The only disadvantage to the cardboard furniture is that my 2 yo now thinks she can color on anything, because we let her color on the cardboard table and chairs.? I guess she doesn?t see a difference between the cardboard table and my dining room table.? Ooops.

Such a great idea and that chair is the perfect size. I’m sure you could decorate them with stickers and contact paper.
