?
I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Orbit for Kids. I received product samples to facilitate my review and a promotional item as a thank you for participating.?
My youngest son “J” loves chewing gum.? I’m not sure where he gets this from because I’m not that much of a gum chewer.? Whenever we go to the grocery and head for the check out line, I already know the next question that is coming out of his mouth is “Mom can I have some gum?”?
I try not to be so strict and? do allow him the occasional piece or two, but knowing the amount of sugar in most gums, the amount he is allowed is definitely limited.? One thing I’m pretty happy about is that both boys had a recent dentist visit and they both are cavity free! I think that is pretty darn good for a 9 and 12 year old if you ask me…. and I definitely want to keep it that way!
In my sons mind, the good news was cause for a celebration. And although it is really something to be proud of …or to celebrate in his words, as a mom, I still have to focus on keeping things in check.? To my delight and his, we recently received a few packets of Orbit for Kids sugarfree gum to try.? I was delighted to read that it was sugarfree. He, on the other hand,? was simply excited to have the opportunity to try it out.
We received the Strawberry Banana flavor and he really enjoyed it.? I tried a piece myself and not bad at all. I was also tempted to do the breath freshness test that which I believe only mothers can do. When I smell his breath midday and it doesn?t smell good, I know that bacteria and plaque have built up in his mouth. A few hours after trying the sugarfree Orbit Gum for Kids, I noticed his breath smelled neutral. It must have worked. On the plus side, he liked how it tastes.
Chewing gum stimulates saliva flow while saliva helps protect teeth. The saliva production triggered by chewing the sugarfree gum helps neutralize plaque acid. This helps clean the remaining food debris from teeth when the gum is chewed within 15 minutes of eating meals or taking sugary drinks. Since Orbit for Kids is sugarfree, it doesn?t contribute to any of the plaque-causing food in the mouth.
Having received the ADA Seal of Acceptance, I feel much better having this in my purse.? I would just like to send a gentle reminder to parents. As with any new type of food introduced to children, always check the ingredients in case your child is sensitive to any of them.
