Growing up, some of my best memories were time spent in the kitchen. I come from a rather large family so when we gathered around it was all sorts of storytelling, loud laughter, and lots of cooking going on. I remember my mom cooking almost 7 days out of the week, so you could imagine the amount of time we spent in the kitchen. She was the queen of red beans and rice and no one could top her famous fried chicken. She also made the best? homemade mac and cheese. And like all ?great cooks? she had a secret recipe. We would especially look forward to Sunday meals after church as this was the time when other family members would stop by. It would always turn into a long day full of laughter.? So many stories were shared around the table.
It’s no surprise that my moms love for cooking was passed on to me. I have many wonderful memories of spending afternoons in the kitchen with her as she taught me the art of creating special meals on her GE Appliances. Just thinking about it now, brings back so many warm memories. And although, I might not have been the most capable student, she stuck with me, and now thanks to her, I make many special meals for my family.
My mom was and still is an amazing cook. The time we spent in the kitchen together was priceless and a never ending bond. The same type of bond that I am trying to create with my kids. I try to get them in the kitchen as much as possible. Luckily, they are much more naturally talented, so we haven?t had as many disasters like mistaking baking soda for baking powder or pouring in way too much salt.? As I create recipes with my kids, I tell them stories of my experiences at their age.? The kitchen really is the heart of our home, and I feel it especially when we grow and cook together.
Just like my family recipes that have been passed down for generations, GE Appliances has also been around for generations. The company was founded in 1905 (before my mom’s fried chicken!) and is still the best in providing quality kitchen appliances to help create kitchen memories. They recently released a series of Our American Kitchen webisodes that each highlight memories made in the kitchen on GE Appliances.
I?m still working on putting together my dream kitchen but in the mean time, GE Appliances wants to give one lucky winner a complete dream kitchen. Now through October 13, you can enter the Our American Kitchen Sweepstakes for your chance to win. You can enter once a day, so don?t miss out!

My memories are when the holidays comes. Families from near and far come together under one roof. Than ,grandmoma says a special prayer to bless the food. Eating is not only what we do in the kitchen. We also, dance, sing and tell jokes. Our kitchen brings us closer.
