As the mother of two boys who seem  to always be into something, I try to always be prepared to capture those precious moments.   I need to be ready at all times–especially when those unexpecting  funny moments happen.    Problem is…my current video camera is somewhat of a dinosaur and it seems to always be out of reach when I need it.  Besides it being old, it is pretty BIG also and lugging it around is a hassle.   So basically, it is kept at home, on a shelf, waiting to be used, LOL.  It is definitely not one for capturing everyday moments…especially when they happen so quick.   For that reason , I need something  smaller, more petite that I can easily carry around. That’s where the CAM5000 camcorder from Coby comes in.


The Coby SNAPP CAM5000 is perfect for toting along in my purse. Just the right size and doesn’t take up much space .  It can be easily stored in a purse or computer bag for day-to-day needs.  Definitely great for a mom on the go!

Priced at around $99, the Coby SNAPP CAM5000 is a perfect ‘take along’ camcorder.   It’s easy to operate and in my opinion didn’t  require the manual that came along with it.  It’s a real easy set up and all the buttons are self explanatory. I also found the quality to be great compared to the so called higher end cameras.  Some added value is that it comes with some great accessories.   For one it doubles as a webcam and comes with:

HDMI Cable
AV Cables
Rechargeable Battery
USB charging and transfer cable

Hooking the camcorder up to the computer was seamless, and downloading was quickly accomplished.  It also comes with a CD which not only comes with the camera driver, but also, a YouTube uploader companion and ArcSoft  MediaImpression which at a quick glance is a great photo and video editor.

The CAM5000 takes both photos and video and features a 5-megapixel still camera mode.   I also like its very simple and straight forward design.  So simple that my two boys ages 6 and 9 could operate.  My 6 year old needed a few things pointed out the first few times but the 9 year old, had to tell me a few things hehe.  But really,this camera is a really great deal for the price.  Unless you are just so into the price tags that are associated with some cameras, I think you can do no wrong with the CAM5000.  It might even be the last camera you buy.  I’m really enjoying it and I think Coby has done really well.
