Trying to keep your car clean and organized isn’t an easy feat. From kids going in and out and you running errands all day long, it’s no wonder the car takes a hit when it comes to staying clean and organized. Sometimes, especially during the summer season, my car tends to get so dirty. From dirt that’s tracked in our shoes to the various pieces of trash, everyone seems to think is okay to just toss to throw away later. Here’s a news flash, that trash never gets thrown away later, it simply stays in the car forever until you finally get a day full of energy to clean and organize your car.
If you’re someone who’s struggling with the idea of keeping your car clean and organized and a shiny new car is not in the current budget, then these clever hacks will help you out so that you no longer have to feel like your car has become a dumpster pile of trash and other items that seem to accumulate in the family car.
Clever Hacks That Will Keep Your Car Clean and Organized
Use a Shoe Organizer
I am not even kidding here. Do you know those shoe organizers that can be hung from a door or a closet? Well, those work awesome as a backseat organizer. Simply place the hanging shoe organizer over your front seats so that the family can use it as storage for back seat items during family road trips or other long trips when kids need to have some items on hand to stay entertained. These little shoe organizer pockets work great to store drinks and snacks in them too.
Use Cupcake Liners for Cup Holder Protection
When it comes to having cup holders in your family car, all too often the drinks end up spilling or dripping over. I know this happens quite frequently when I go through a drive through for coffee, the lid doesn’t get put on tight enough and coffee slowly leaks around the rim down the cup. Using cupcake liners in your car cup holders will help keep that little drip of fluid from actually getting down into the car’s cup holder area.
Store Plastic Bags
Those grocery store bags come in quite handy to carry in and carry out all trash and other items that the family seems to need to have in the family car, but having plastic bags all over your car isn’t ideal. Use old tissue boxes as a storage container for grocery store plastic bags. These will help ensure you always have a way to toss garbage after each family trip in the car. The beauty of these is that you can toss the trash at a local gas station trash can, so as long as that’s acceptable in your town, or at a local car wash trash bin after you run through the local car wash. This saves time with trying to pick up accumulated trash or items when you’ve spent a lot of time in the family car.
These are just a few clever hacks to keep your car clean and organized during the busy days of summer or any other time of the year when you’re spending too much time in the car with your family. You can also keep car wipes in a small tote in your car trunk or storage space to easily wipe down your dashboard from time to time while sitting to wait for kids to get out of school so that you can keep the dashboard shiny clean all year round.
