We would start this article by suggesting it’s rare for things to happen in life if you don’t work for them, but we all know that’s not necessarily true. It’s more than possible to luck into good fortune, or to find yourself in an advantageous position based on nothing you did yourself.
That being said, the most satisfying things in life are worth working for, be that writing a novel you get published instead of using AI to pen it for you, or enjoying your small gardening patch instead of necessarily paying to ensure your vegetables are grown for you.
But what if you’re looking for more of a balance in life? What if you can work for a certain outcome, but without necessarily expending intensive blood, sweat and tears as you’re trying to manage all other aspects of your life in line with that?
Is it possible that you can achieve certain things in life but without having to spend four hours a day on that as a matter of principle? For example, what about losing weight? Can you simplify this process to the point where it just sort of happens based on daily habits you were doing anyway? We believe so. Consider the following:
Practice Portion Control
It’s quite easy to eat more than you were expecting, especially if you get into the habit. But what if you just used portion control as standard. Purchasing a slightly smaller plate and dividing it into the three, then splitting that into vegetables, carbs and proteins, can be provide you the balance and appropriate restrictions you’re looking for. Only drinking once every other week, and in moderate amounts, could help you stay temperate. You might also just eat a nice bowl of oats each morning but with different natural toppings (like blueberries) to keep things fresh. Over time you’ll realize that you didn’t change all that much, you just practiced moderation, and like with weight loss injections, your hunger and cravings changed in suit.
Walk More
Walking is an easy way to burn calories without feeling like you’re exercising, and you don’t need special equipment or a gym membership. Just find ways to add more steps to your day. Take the stairs instead of the elevator when it’s convenient. Park a bit further from your destination if you can. Go for a calm walk during your lunch break. Consider taking your dog for a walk in the park each morning. These small changes can add up over time. Add a step counter and it’ll motivate you. It also means you’ll bake-in daily exercise without thinking too much about it.
Hydrate & Sleep
No one thinks they can get fit by drinking water and getting enough sleep, but in reality, these are perhaps the two most important habits to ensure your long-term health. For isntance, when you’re well-hydrated, you’re less likely to mistake thirst for hunger. Try keeping a water bottle with you and sipping throughout the day.
Moreover, when you’re tired, your body craves quick energy, often in the form of sugary or high-calorie foods. Aim for 7-9 hours of sleep each night and try to limit coffee before bed. This might mean adjusting your schedule a bit, but when you feel rested, you’re emotionally healthy, and this allows you to avoid falling into bad habits.
With this advice, we hope you can lose weight without necessarily thinking about it.
