This post was made possible by Top Chef University, a cooking tips and recipes app. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Whenever I watch Top Chef, I just want to reach into my TV and sample the food?it looks so delicious! I don?t think I?m alone in saying I end every episode wishing I could be half the chef those contestants are. Luckily for me, the new Top Chef University To-Go app brings my favorite Top Chef contestants straight to my iPad and will turn me into a master chef in no time.
Whether you?re a novice chef or a true artist in the kitchen, you’ll want to download this app and you?ll be well on your way to culinary bliss. The app is available for download free starting today.

Getting Started
Eleven Top Chef competitors from past seasons teach the more than 200 lessons on the app and make it accessible to even the most novice of chefs. Lessons are arranged into courses on each type of food. The app itself is free and comes with the basic course on kitchen essentials.
Before you can dive into the culinary world, you need to know some basics. Carla, one of my favorite chefs, takes you through a series of lessons on how to stock your pantry and how to care for kitchen instruments, among other things. I loved learning the correct way to chop vegetables once and for all.
Main Course
The food courses are broken down into techniques and types of food, such as seafood, stocks, or salads. From there, each lesson covers a variety of recipes and tricks. Each course costs? provides hours of instruction, and is? a great alternative to a cookbook that wouldn?t teach you nearly as much.
I started in the Sauces and Salads course because I?m a big fan of Chef Spike and wanted to learn his ways. Spike walked me though making the perfect vinaigrette and had my mouth watering the whole time. I love that each lesson gives me space to add notes, and breaks things down into manageable categories that are always accessible at the bottom of the screen. There are tons of lessons to choose from, so you can work your way through all of them or bounce around to whatever tickles your fancy.
Just Desserts
Top Chef University To-Go is full of extra features to make you the best chef possible. Don?t know hoisin sauce from hollandaise? An extensive glossary of terms and tools is always at the bottom of your screen for quick reference. Search for a recipe or lesson by ingredient, type of food, or even by chef. And these video tutorials aren?t your typical cooking show?they are high quality and infused with chef personality so they are entertaining to watch. Here is just a sample of what you?ll see in Top Chef University To-Go.

I like that it has courses. Most apps that I’m familiar with just show recipes. I definitely need some lessons on cooking technique. ;)
