Try To Drink More Water

We want to start by talking about drinking water. Drinking water is the best option for you, and for your family, but a lot of people say that they don’t like it, or hitting the recommended amount is too difficult. The thing is, if you think about all of the other drinks you consume in a day such as fizzy drinks, coffee, or whatever else, it’s not impossible, it’s just not your preference.

Staying hydrated is of course best, which means that what you’re drinking is slightly less important than the fact that you are drinking. However, water is the best and you should be aiming for around two liters per day. You can start by using flavored water, or even the best sparkling water once a day to improve your water intake. While it’s not ideal, it’s better than some other options.

Family Exercise

Have you ever thought about completing exercise as a family? We’re not suggesting that you sign your small ones up to the gym, but you can complete exercise at home without it even being structured exercise. If you want to complete structured exercise you can, and the chances are your kids are going to want to join in anyway.

But, if you want to make it a little more fun, you can try running around the garden, completing random exercises such as jumping jacks around the living room. Exercise doesn’t have to be boring, you know?

Speak Openly And Honestly

Finally, openness and honesty is important for families, and you need to encourage this as much as possible. We say this for the sake of the mental health of your whole family, your kids included, because it’s essential that they feel as though they can speak about how they are feeling. Too many young people have their emotions dismissed, which is something you must be careful not to do.

Everyone should know that your home is a safe space, where mental health is nurtured not shamed. If you can do this, you’re doing great.

We hope that you have found this article helpful, and now see some of the baby steps that you can take towards fixing the health of your family. It might be tough, but you’ve got this.
