One of my challenges during summer is finding appropriate activities we can do as a family. With the boys becoming so independent and wanting to do their own thing, we made a small rule that we would set aside at least one hour to watch a show together as a family. What I didn’t realize was how difficult it was to find a show on TV that would be entertaining to all members of the family. There’s always at least one person who’s yawning.
Teen Beach Movie
I was excited when I learned that Disney Channel is bringing back Family Movie Night with its newest movie entitled Teen Beach Movie (Rated TV-G) that will be airing July 19th at 8pm ET/PT . It’s targeted towards kids, tweens, and families so that sounds like the perfect movie. With a fun, modern take of classic beach party movies, it integrates a valuable message about believing in yourself and following your dreams.
My youngest son has already asked his dad to set a reminder on his smart phone so he can be sure to be home. My husband is into music so he has been trying his hand on the keyboard, playing some of the tunes from the movie. The kids have followed his lead and are starting to imitate the tunes they heard from the music videos.
And to help get us in the mood for the upcoming movie, Disney Channel sent us a fun filled box of goodies to get us in the mood. We are all set up and can’t wait!
In anticipation of the movie, the kids have been looking around the Teen Beach Movie website. I’m just so delighted because when they saw the recipes, they wanted to try them all. Imagine, I could get them to spend time in the kitchen in anticipation of a movie? With so many recipes and snacks to choose from, we simply cannot make them all. Here are some of their favorites and they plan to have these as our snacks while watching the movie.
We will start the movie with Full-Tank Fruit Skewers then move on to the Throttlin’ Turkey Wheelies. Of course, we won’t forget our cool drinks as they have asked me to help them operate the blender to prepare the Rockin’ Raspberry Smoothies. They are so excited already that they think they can’t wait any longer, so I let them do a count down by doing one beach party food each day leading to July 19.
Since my kids have food sensitivities, I appreciate Disney Channel’s concern by adding a reminder to ask kids about nut allergies, especially if they have friends coming over to watch with them. You can get these recipes and more just by heading over to the Disney Channel Teen Beach Movie website where you can download your own party kit that includes recipes, themed games, activities and music videos.
What are we waiting for? Block the date and make sure that you and your kids will enjoy family time on Friday, July 19 8p.m. ET/PT. Maybe you can prepare a surprise for your kids too since they will be working a lot on the snacks. My husband has secretly sourced beach hats that we will all be wearing that time. I received promotion items to host my own beach themed party and to tell you about the upcoming Disney movie. All opinions and thoughts are my own.
