Getting Creative with Eggs

Eggs are pretty boring, right? But they don’t have to be. In fact, they are some of the most important ingredients in things like cakes, soufflés, and a lot of other recipes you might not have had the chance to try out just yet.

We have prepared a list of tips and tricks that might be able to help you if you have an endless supply of eggs and you’ve run out of ideas regarding what you can do with them.

Cloud bread

This is one recipe you might not have heard about in the past, and that’s because it isn’t all that common. People following the South Beach Diet usually make their own cloud bread, and that’s because, over the course of the first two weeks of the regimen, they can’t eat carbs. Sure, they might be allowed to consume raw and cooked vegetables, but they don’t have a green light for bread and such.

The most common carb-free cloud bread recipe calls for three separate eggs, three tablespoons of cottage cheese or cream cheese, a quarter of a teaspoon of cream of tartar, and artificial sweetener. You can leave out the latter if you don’t want the bread to be sweet, and you can add salt instead.

If you seal the cloud bread in a ziplock bag and leave it in the fridge overnight, it’ll be thicker and chewier, which is why you will be able to use it for sandwiches. Given its lack of carbs, this treat can be used by people following the Ketogenic diet, too.

Use your muffin pan

Whether you want to cook the eggs just like that or you want to make frittata or egg bakes, the fact is that your muffin pan is one of the most versatile tools you might have in your kitchen. You can add loads of things to your eggs, and they might range from fresh herbs to cottage cheese, a little bit of bacon and anything else that your heart (and taste buds) might desire.

You can also make mini soufflés in your muffin pan, although the process might be a little tedious given that you need to handle the batter with a lot of care so as not to remove the air bubbles.

Egg boats and good old omelets

Egg boats are great if you have people coming over or you’re looking for a simple way of making lunch for work. You can use two types of ‘boats’ for the purpose. One of them is bread, and the other is potato skins. Both of these recipes come out delicious when you bake them, but the potato one is downright savory.

An omelet maker can save you a lot of time and effort in the kitchen, and the best thing about this type of appliance is that it doesn’t cost a fortune. Sure, it might take up a little more room on your countertop, but if you eat eggs often, it can be a life saver.
