The Internet can be a wonderful resource for kids. They can use it to research school reports, communicate with teachers and other kids, and play interactive games, but there is also a scary side to that access.

If your child has access to the internet, it is important to be aware of what your kids see and hear on the Internet, who they meet, and what they share about themselves online.

  1. I have three children and my eldest child is the one I really have to monitor on the computer. It’s such a challenge to monitor her online usage and still allow her some freedom to make her own choices. We recently closed down her cell phone and Facebook due to safety issues.

    Thank you for this post, all parents should read it.

    There’s some great info in there. I love this. My two are too young to be on the computer unsupervised, but my 15 yr old step son has his xbox and laptop in his bedroom. He knows the consequences if his gadgets are not turned in to me or his dad by 7 pm.

    I myself use a free parental control app Qustodio to block sites that are harmful as also review what my son downloads from the web or who he chats to on facebook and other messengers. Its important to create such a safe environment for kids so that they don’t fall prey to online demons.
