My Spring Cleaning Routine

Cleaning doesn’t have to be difficult and I’m learning that as I get older. Having kids sure does make things a little trickier though. I have had to find a way to keep my house clean and deal with everyday chaos. Finding ways to clean your home can help reduce stress and just make you an overall happier person. Here are a few ways I try and keep my home clean.

Pick up throughout the day

I try and pick up things throughout the day. I will admit that there are some days where I just wait till the end of the day; however, i

t’s a lot easier to pick up things as I go. I also have the kids help if they can because it teaches them a lot along the way.

Make a cleaning chart

This is a great way to stay on top of your tasks. All you need to do is make a list of chores you want to do each day. Some moms/women like to clean everything every day. I on the other hand would rather clean the bathroom one day and focus on other things throughout the day. Staying organized is very exciting for everyone in your household.

Challenging myself daily

There are days that I do not want to deal with housework. Some days I will just take the day off from cleaning and challenge myself in another area. Housework can be stressful and I do not want it to affect my family. I also try and use my favorite cleaning products when I can. Some of those spring cleaningcleaning products are

-All natural cleaners (because it’s safe for my family)

-Pine-sol (I remember my mom and grandmother using this when I was a kid.  Whenever I smell it reminds me of my childhood.)

  1. I must admit that sometimes I just get overwhelmed and give up. I like how you break it down in to small tasks that don’t seem so daunting and much more doable! I know what I’ll be doing for the next few days :P

I’ve always liked the smell of Pine-Sol. I’m usually not very organized with my cleaning. Following this routine would probably do me some good.

  3. Becca says:

I am not a good cleaner. But I often try to bring at least one thing with me when I change rooms to help get everything put where it goes.

A great tip I picked up from someone is to make cleaning and chores into a game to get the kids involved and get the work done quicker. It’s all about how you frame it really, if I said who wants to tidy up, my littluns wouldn’t be interested, but if I say, who can pick up the most toys in five mins, suddenly it couldn’t be more fun! :)

I need to start a regular routine, Sounds like a plan. I just tend to look at the mess and pick a task, after its done I procrastinate the next task until I can no longer stand it and then do it. Sometimes its just a matter of am I out of clean clothes? Oh I should do laundry today. I need to train my pets to clean up after themselves, they’re half of the battle.

  6. I’ve gotten much better at keeping things clean since we bought our own home. Now I have a vested interest in keeping the place clean! I’m still terrible at Spring Cleaning, though :(
