Your Monthly Breast Exam Reminder

Hi Ladies,

I haven’t posted a monthly breast reminder in a while and it is definitely over due.

Many of us are so involved in our everyday lives  and caught up in doing things for everyone else that we tend to forget or neglect to do important things for ourselves.  One of those being  a life-saving preventative measure like monthly breast exams.  I posted previously about an e-mail reminder for your self breast exam offered by BeBrightPink.Org.
I found the service to be very helpful in keeping me mindful of monthy self examinations. Getting started is simple.  All you have to do to sign up up text PINK to 59227 or by providing your e-mail address.  On the 15th of every month you will receive a reminder along with health tips and a complete guide to doing self exams!

Early Detection Saves Lives!  I know this to be true.  My mom is 23 year survivor of Breast Cancer.  Early detection and promt attention is what saved her.  Don’t let life get too busy and not remember to do a simple self check.  Young or old it can affect you.

I’ve already got my reminder for the month so here yours.

From Bright Pink:  No matter if u have OOs, (O)(O)s, (o)(o)s, or oos spend quality time w/them regularly. Note irregularities & C if they change.

We all can use a healthy reminder, so I hope that you remember to give yourself a breast exam this month.

Until next time…..Be Well!

  1. I have to confess: I’ve never done a self-check. I’m fairly young so I was never too worried about it, but now I need to start, especially since my Grandmother had breast cancer in both breasts. Thank you for the reminder!

  2. Definitely something I need to do. Thanks for the reminder!

  3. I exam once a month in the shower.. I am always nervous because I’ve had many friends who are young get breast cancer.

This is definitely something that is very important to do. I will admit that I used to forget until I had the scare of finding a lump. I think we tend to forget selectively because you just don’t want to find anything, but it is so simple to do and can save your life.

  5. Dee says:

Having had 7 benign tumors removed my breasts are so lumpy from scar tissue it’s hard to tell what’s new and what’s not. I do try to see if anything feels different but mostly rely on my yearly exam.

  6. Thanks for the reminder!

  7. How is it that I never remember this on my own? Thanks for the reminder.

  8. I’ve never done a self check either and at 28 didn’t feel I had to, but I’m getting older and I just signed up for monthly reminders!

  9. Megan says:

    My husband examines me! lol

  10. Thanks for the reminder, I actually missed mine.

  11. I’m so bad about this – thanks for the reminder!

  12. Sara says:

    Thanks for the reminder!

  13. Great reminder!

  14. Sam says:

Great reminder! There are several cases of breast cancer in my family, so I started my mammograms early, but I am not great at remembering the self checks!

  15. Kenda says:

Thank you for posting this! I have several loved ones lost and surviving breast cancer (I myself have been through cervical). And even then…I still sometimes forget.

  16. Anne says:

It is always good to get a reminder.

  17. Thanks for the reminder!

  18. Thanks…I’ve totally been neglecting it.

My doctor told me recently that they have changed the recommendations and say this no longer a monthly necessity. Yeah, I looked at him like he had three heads too.

Then he explained that too many women were feeling things that turned out to be nothing and going for medical care that it defeated the purpose (by then having additional radiation that wasn’t necessary). According to him, it is only necessary to have mammograms.

And I trust him. For what it’s worth.

  20. Very important message! I know some doctors now say it’s not necessary to do a monthly exam, but mine still encourages me to do them. Most woman find their own lumps and yes mammograms are important, however not always accurate. Early detection is the key AND I’m not taking any changes!

I’ve really been not doing this – I saw this pop up in my feed and STILL didn’t do it! I am doing it tonight when I’m homr from work, no more excuses. Thank you.

  22. Maggie says:

    Thank you for this reminder!

  23. Tammy says:

My doctor started my yearly mammograms this year. I’ve reached that age.
