Mommy Break

I’m a work at home mom and at times it gets a bit mudane and boring, but needless to say,I am in no way at the point of changing that fact at the moment. I love being here for my kids and able to do things around the home I would not have the time to do otherwise.

But then there are those times, I need a break from the typical mom duties and desire, no NEED some Mommy time. I’m sure you know what I’m talking about. You know, those moments you need some alone time, some me-time, time just for your self. I knew you’d understand!!! That’s when its time for a mommy break. Mommy breaks are great because it allows you to get away and relax for a moment. In my case, it allows me to step back, evaluate and appreciate my role as a stay at home mom. Just enough time for me to regain my sense of being and figure out what that heck I’m suppose to do next.

I’m sure you’d agree that we all deserve a break from time to time. The hard part about taking one is justifying the down time when there is so much to do. Now that my kids are in school, I find it a lot easier to take a break throughout the day. It helps me to prepare for the chaos when everyone returns home.

As of late, my mommy breaks have consisted of taking a brisk walk or heading out to the gym. I’ve found that exercise helps my mood and gives me more energy. I’ve also lost a few pounds in the process- can’t complain about that. Shopping is another way I break. You’d be surprised how relaxing it is. I’m usually so much happier once I return especially after catching a good sale.

I know everyone’s situation is different and some have their kids at home all day, in that case, I’m sure Mommy breaks may not be as easy to come by. How do you sneak in your mommy breaks?

A good friend suggested to me the idea of swapping an hour or two with another stay-at-home mom, once a week. That might have worked but I didn’t know of another stay at home mom at the time.

Another option that might work is to enroll your child in a preschool for a couple of days a week or join a local MOPS program for mothers of preschoolers.

I hope that you are successful in finding some free time for yourself and always remember that you are deserving of a Mommy Break.

I KNOW I could use a mommy break. I used to run…like outdoors…but lately I just use the treadmill. I should actually leave the house sometimes!

Yoga is my mommy alone time or walking on the beach. Some days I cant wait until both boys are in school but then their little smiles make me feel different.

I can totally relate to you ! I don't get many breaks, I tend to let myself stay up later then the baby so that I have that little time to myself ! Even though I have to fight the tiredness in the mornings ! Great Post

I get my break in at night after they are in bed. It's a vicious cycle because then I'm tired the next day and etc etc etc. But it's the best and quiet time I get!
